 Is it really possible that SocialWork 2000 has now completed 10 full years? This is really a cause for celebration and we will mark 2010 with a series of social events to celebrate. The social work profession has taken quite a bashing during 2009. I would hope that we can all play a part in restoring the equilibrium in the year ahead. This whole newsletter talks positively about the achievements of the SocialWork 2000 team which includes our locums who are out there working and our own team who work to place them where they can play their part most effectively.
We represent a small fraction of social workers in the United Kingdom but if the remainder are as good as our own people there is great optimism for the future. A big thank you for the part which you have played in another successful year. I do hope that you will have the opportunity to take a little time for yourself and your families and recharge the batteries before enthusiastically taking on the new year.

| Mince Pie Run |
 This month the team have been out on the annual mince pie run delivering pies, diaries, calendars to all our locums at their places of work as a very very small token of our appreciation for the work which they do. Nikki and Shelli have worked very hard to coordinate what in itself is now quite a large project. We have 114 locums placed in a variety of locations around the Shire counties. Yesterday I had the privilege of joining Shelli on a tour of Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. It was lovely to meet Karen Hansell pictured in St Albans. The tour culminated with a large gathering at Hemel Hempstead where we managed a sizeable group photograph (see above). It is with great sincerity that I can share with you  how proud I felt of the people who are out there working for SocialWork 2000. I do not want to mention names but we encountered smiling faces and confident individuals who rightly and proudly represent the social work profession. People who we have known right from the very early days who have grown and developed and present themselves with great confidence and great stature. You are all a great tribute to us. I felt so so moved and so so proud.
This feeling of pride extends to our own team in High Wycombe and Milton Keynes in Recruitment , Administration and Finance. They work so well together on your behalf and have all grown to achieve similar levels of confidence and stature.

| Free SocialWork 2000 Calendar 2010 |
 The SocialWork 2000 calendar is without doubt our most popular promotional item.
The 2010 calendar celebrates 10 years of Safer Recruitment at SocialWork 2000. This year we are featuring our team members together with a photograph they have taken themselves or chosen. We are very proud of our team. Their commitment to locums and to the profession is second to none and they strive always to achieve safe recruitment.
This year the calendars arrived before the end of November and we have almost completed deliveries. There are a few remaining so we will send them out on a first come first served basis.

| Business over the Christmas Period |
 Most employees of SocialWork 2000 will be taking a well earned break over the Christmas period. Our offices in Milton Keynes and High Wycombe will close on Thursday 24th December at lunchtime. The High Wycombe office will be open on Tuesday 29th and Wednesday 30th December. The Milton Keynes office will be open on Wednesday 30th December. Both offices will be open again on Monday 4th January.
We will of course be running a service for emergencies and urgent calls throughout the holiday period. Any registrations over the Web will be responded to at the earliest opportunity.
We have written to all our locums with arrangements for pay. The key deadlines are:
Tues 22nd Dec 10am for payment on Thurs 24th Dec
Tues 29th Dec 10am for payment on Thurs 31st Dec
All timesheets after that deadline will be paid on Friday 8th January

Friday morning at Manor Courtyard. Driving down the hill into High Wycombe listening to John Lennon's Christmas song got me into the spirit for writing the final newsletter of the year.
The snow has fallen heavily overnight and puts our main office into a beautiful setting. You may wonder why there is also a beautiful shot of Mauritius. Well - Pravesh, who produces our newsletter, lives there and has been complaining about the air conditioning not working this morning. He wants to get the job done before he goes for his swim. How technology has moved on in the 10 years since we started our business!
