| Remember Our Questionnaires? |
|
Last summer we sent out questionnaires to all those who were currently working for us or in the process of registering for work with us. We wanted to know what we were doing right but also where people felt we could improve upon the service we provide.
As a result we introduced a number of new developments in response to people’s comments – this e-newsletter is just one example, giving you regular updates and links to training opportunities and information about our new social events calendar.
We want to know if you feel the changes we have made have been successful. If you are currently in the process of registering with us, registered and awaiting your first placement with us or already working, you will soon receive a copy of the questionnaire through your letterbox.
Please find a few moments to complete and forward it to us. We are genuinely interested in your experience of your contact with SocialWork2000 - complimentary or otherwise.
If you’d prefer to give your answers over the phone please call Maggie – she’ll be chasing replies to ensure as many people as possible are entered into the prize draw of all completed questionnaires received before the closing date to win a £50 Marks and Spencer voucher.

| Become an Independent F Form Assessor |
|
Nationally there is a shortage of experienced independent assessors. At the same time there are many well qualified social workers who would like to do this work but have no direct experience of undertaking F Form assessments and few opportunities to gain this experience.
‘Undertaking Assessments of Potential Foster Carers
An Introduction to the F Form’
This comprehensive one day workshop aims to increase participant’s knowledge of the F Form and the process of assessment and provide social workers with the confidence, knowledge and skills to begin this work.
Maggie Whymark, who in addition to her business management role within SW2K is also an independent consultant, is running this workshop together with two independent social workers, Chris Anderson and Darren Wilkins.
Fostering agencies will have the opportunity to attend during lunch to distribute information about their service and answer participant’s questions about working as an independent F Form assessor.
The workshop will be held on Friday 4th April 2008 at the Quaker Centre, Milton Keynes.
The cost per place is £85 + VAT including lunch and refreshments throughout the day.

| GSCC Registration News |
|
In a letter to health minister Ben Bradshaw, GSCC chair Rodney Brooke described the Care Standards Act 2000 requirement as "an unnecessary and discriminatory barrier".
Brooke said: "We believe it is up to individuals and their employers to manage their health condition and it is up to them, rather than the regulator, to decide whether they are able to perform their duties."
