Welcome to Nikki

Nikki joined our team in High Wycombe this January as a Recruitment Administrator. She has several years of experience with Carewatch as a Field Care Supervisor and Care Coordinator. Nikki has settled in quickly to the team and has already got her feet under the table with the organisation of two very successful Social Events. She pays great attention to detail and is looking forward to working with Jo to deliver an even stronger service to locums and clients from our High Wycombe base. She has a friendly smile and always has the hot drinks on the go for anyone dropping in to Manor Courtyard.
Forced Marriage Seminar

The recent media coverage of the issue of Forced Marriage has been very much driven by the launch, in March, of “Forced Marriage, Family Cohesion and Community Engagement: National Learning Through a Case Study of Luton”. This Home Office funded research project was conducted by Dr Nazia Khanum.

Person Centred Experiential Counselling Service

This April marks the 6th year that Suzy Parandian has worked with SocialWork 2000. Joining as an experienced worker she completed her social work education with us and has since acquired some very solid social work experience. Remarkably she has also found the time to devote herself to training as a qualified therapist and holds the Diploma of Higher Education in Counselling. “All people at some time in their lives have periods when life becomes overwhelming”. If you, a friend or family member would be interested in using her services, Suzy would be pleased to hear from you.

10 Pin Bowling Evenings

The SocialWork 2000 Social Calendar saw 2 exciting evenings full of action during March. Exchanging the comfort of a theatre seat for bowling shoes and 16lb bowling balls our first evening was at the Xscape Mid City Lanes Centre in Milton Keynes. A great deal of laughter accompanied some budding performances from our locums and staff team. Jaswinder Challi came out on top for the locums that evening.

The next evening we took the tour to Maidenhead 10 pin Bowling Centre where we had fantastic fun and a measured performance by Lorraine Smith put her in top position. Our very own intrepid Jo Cockerill was on hand both nights to show us all how it should be done with some remarkable scores by smashing the pins to smithereens !!
Integrated Working and the 'Team Around the Child'

The Every Child Matters policy and subsequent workforce reform agenda is aimed at ensuring that all children in England have the best possible life chances and are in receipt of joined up, appropriate and accessible services when needed. Research has much to offer this effort in terms of demonstrating both what happens to children when professionals do not form a “team around the child” and what happens when they do.

An upcoming training session will highlight messages from research including the National Evaluation of the Children’s Fund that Maggie McCutcheon was involved with and use case studies and discussion to further explore knowledge and understanding of this important subject.
