Happy Easter

The first 3 months of the year seem to have passed so quickly. It feels that the profession has come under a great deal of scrutiny and criticism over the last few months. That experience is mirrored in the conversations we have with our locums who are working in the front line.

This month’s newsletter gives a blend of what is happening out there, training and is balanced by a little humour. I have to say that the quality of the Minute in the Life slots are getting very high and Alison Moore’s has made me smile this month. Keep sending them in!

There is also talk of holidays and we hope that you will enjoy a well earned Easter break and arrive back feeling rejuvenated and refreshed.
Training at Socialwork 2000

Increased Holiday Entitlement

Great news for Social Work locums !!

From 1st April 2009 locums who are paid by PAYE are entitled to the equivalent of an extra 4 days holiday a year. At SocialWork 2000 locums receive their holiday pay by accruing a holiday allowance for every hour that they work. Currently that is at a rate of 10.17%. From 1st April it goes up to 12.07%. This amounts to a pay rise. This will happen automatically so there is no action required by you. You will be able to claim this extra holiday pay when you take your Annual Leave.

Lord Laming Report

The Lord Laming report has attracted considerable publicity to our profession recently. A number of locums have asked if we are able to supply a copy of the report. Here is a link which enables you to download the full report. In addition we have put in some links to the media coverage which you may find interesting.
