We are delighted to announce the arrival of Rebecca Evans as a Recruitment Adviser in our High Wycombe office. Rebecca (AKA Becky) has considerable experience in recruitment and has settled in to the team quickly. She is keen to build her knowledge about social work and is highly committed to delivering the service that SocialWork 2000 locums have come to expect.
"First off I would like to say a big thank you for the warm welcome I have received from the SocialWork2000 team. My first day was a 'baptism of fire' attending the Comm Care Live Exhibition with James and Jo, and what a first day it was! Loved the end of day cocktails; not so much the sore throbbing feet. I had the opportunity to meet many key exhibitors, and watch Jo's inimitable 'information-getting' technique (she really should be a reporter). As well as vendors, we had the opportunity to speak to some of the local authorities exhibiting, and this allowed me to gain an insight into the industry and SocialWork2000's place within this. On my 2nd day I received a bouquet of flowers from the team which was a lovely surprise (hence the photo of me trying to pose like Miss World, and doing it badly). Finally, thanks for everyone's help and support (and patience) so far. I hope I will be able to soon become an effective member of the recruiting team (just bear with me till then). That's it from me; I am off this weekend to read up on social work and do my homework..."

| Community Care Live Exhibition |
|
On May 19th Jo, Rebecca and James attended the 2010 Comm Care Live Exhibition in London. This is always an excellent opportunity to catch up with colleagues and clients as well as a broad section of organisations involved in the provision of social work; not least the GSCC, BASW and the College of Social Work - which indeed already is in existence. There were also a range of workshops that assist social workers to contribute to their PRTL.
It is well worth getting the date November 17th 2010 into your diaries for the Children and Families Comm Care Live Exhibition.

| Charity Abseil |
|
SocialWork 2000 team are very proud of their team member Mags Walker, Recruitment Advisor from our Milton Keynes office. She has been busy raising money for the Stroke Association...
"On Saturday 20 March I joined lots of other daredevils to abseil down the side of the Bedford College Tower Block, a drop of 120 foot. I have wanted to abseil for several years, but every time I had a chance to do this something got in the way. When I realised this event was organised to raise money for the Stroke Association, it felt like it was meant to be because my dad had a stroke 3 years ago. For some reason I had absolutely no fear during the whole event, which was over far too quickly, even when I stepped out on to the edge of the building to begin my descent. Apparently it only took me 1 minute to reach the bottom, unlike the girl who started at the same time as me but froze half way down! My dad was really proud of my achievement. If anyone is contemplating abseiling I would thoroughly recommend you give it a go - they say that every day you should do something that frightens you a little, and if you can also raise money for a good cause along the way all the more reason to do it!"
