The SocialWork 2000 Autumn Calendar of Social Events kicked off at the Wycombe Swan with a spectacular evening of entertainment when a party of 35 Locum Social Workers attended the musical Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. The team were given VIP treatment with a buffet before the show and discovered that you don't need to go to the West End for a great night out when a performance like this comes to your doorstep. Craig Chalmers, from the recent Hit TV series was outstanding and received standing ovations.

"Thank you for the Great Evening Out at Joseph. It was a fantastic treat & the snackies were great. It was so good to see old & new faces again." Said Charlotte Greenwood who has been a loyal locum since 2000.

"I thoroughly enjoyed myself. It was lovely to put names to faces & of course meet other locums."
Questionnaire Results

Over the past seven years SocialWork 2000 has established an excellent reputation for providing the highest quality service to all our clients and locum staff and it is important to us that we maintain these standards at all times.

We recently sent out questionnaires to all those who were currently working for us or in the process of registering for work with us. We wanted to know what we were doing right but also where people felt we could improve upon the service we provide.

We received an overwhelming response and we are very proud to report that the majority of people who responded felt they we receiving an excellent service from us.

As a starting point we noted that several people requested more information about available training and opportunities for PRTL. In response to this you will see details of PQ training and PRTL opportunities in forthcoming newsletters and on our website.

We would like to thank everyone who took the time to respond to the questionnaire and assure you of our dedication to service improvement at all times.

Sylvia Beckford and Rachel Irven each received a prize of £50 Marks & Spencer vouchers as winners in the Prize Draw. "It was brilliant thanks. I never win anything!" said Rachel.
New Post Qualifying Training Framework

SocialWork 2000 are delighted to announce that one of our locums, Sue Nelson, will embark upon the new Specialist Award with Children, Young People their Families and Carers at the University of Bedfordshire. Working in partnership with Bucks County Council and SocialWork 2000, Sue will be one of the first independent social workers to undertake an award within the new revised PQ Framework.

To learn more about how the framework has been implemented click here.

The new revised PQ framework for social work has been implemented. The new framework involves core and optional modules/units and is open to other professions (interprofessional). The framework entails the choice of obtaining individual 'stand alone', 'generic' (some also span those working with Adults and Children), specific academic modules/units or completing relevant specialisms.

University Awards

As part of SocialWork 2000's continued support of social work students, we were asked by the University of Bedfordshire, Bedford site, to sponsor a prize that would recognise students achievements throughout the year. Aside from their academic achievements, this award was established to commend those who have been seen to go that extra mile in terms of their support to others, their motivation and their commitment to learning.

Nominations were received and after some deliberation, winners and runners up were chosen from a panel made up of university lecturers and practising professionals from the field of social work.

Nominations were read out for all 3 years and prizes were presented by Vicki Shortt from our Milton Keynes office.

The winners were genuinely surprised, and pleased to have won. Each one received a £100 voucher for Ticketmaster that can be used to purchase theatre/sporting event/Uk attraction tickets.

Social Work Conference, High Wycombe

Over 100 Social Workers from as far afield as West Berkshire and Bedfordshire attended this day conference to look at Improving Practice and Improving Service. Cyndy Whiffin and Paul Webster from the GSCC were there to give keynote speeches. The event was organised by Thames Valley Skills For Care PQ Planning Group of which SocialWork 2000 is a member. Local Universities made presentations and individuals were given the opportunity to devise their own action plans. The day counted towards PRTL and the strong turnout showed that the heart of Social Work in Bucks is still beating strong.
Increase in Holiday Pay

Temporary Workers in the UK are entitled to an additional 4 days of statutory leave from 1st October 2007. The implication for SocialWork 2000 Locums who are paid through PAYE is that they immediately accrue an additional 1.84% of their hourly rate in holiday pay for hours worked from that date. No action required to receive this increased benefit as Yvonne will process this for you.
